Yes there are some great Vegan options and events in Newport, RI!
Restaurants
Raw Power Juice Bar
Despite the name, Raw Power Juice Bar has plenty of cooked food, and it's a 99% vegan (the gluten-free wrap bread contains eggs). Veggie burgers, salads, rice bowls and zucchini noodles bowls loaded with veggies are satisfying and nutritious. The dining area is small and ventilation a bit lacking (at times the air smells of smoked cooking oil).
Their website is currently just a place-holder. The best way to see their menu is this link here:

Lucia's Italian Restaurant
Lucia's has an amazing eggplant based dish called Pene Mama Afra (be sure to say no goat-cheese to make it vegan). They spend hours slowly cooking and layering the sauce, and it shows!
You get free fresh Italian bread with meals and every time I've asked they say it's totally vegan. Request fresh olive oil and drizzle it in on your bread plate with a dash of salt and pepper to dip your warm bread in instead of butter! Ask for additional free bread if you need more when your main course arrives.
Other vegan options include salads and a seitan dish!

Salvation Cafe
They often just have the one vegan option (Pad Thai), but it's very very good. Unless you have a huge appetite, the portion will will feed two people or provide you some great left-overs. They might have some side salad options too.

Grocery
A-Market
In the center of Newport but a quite pricey! Occasionally some good sales on vegan items. Deli/bakery items often include vegan wraps and sandwiches, vegan potato salad, quinoa salads, vegan muffins, and sometimes a vegan soup option. I wish the deli options were just a little bit cheaper and I'd get them a lot more often.
